<The appeal of a trip to Islay>
In addition to the golf mecca of St. Andrews, we also recommend touring the distilleries of Islay, the mecca of whiskey.
There are said to be 20 distilleries on the island, and our company will visit 8 to 10 of them plus one on the island of Jura.
While sightseeing around the beautiful sea and cityscape in a private vehicle, you will travel to famous distilleries such as Bowmore, the oldest on the island, founded in 1779 and popular in Japan, Ardbeg, founded in 1815, and Laphroaig, also founded in 1815 and a purveyor to King Charles.
In addition to tastings at each distillery, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a mini seminar given by specialized staff and learn about Islay malt from various angles while observing the production process.
Hotels and Restaurants
Breakfast is a full Scottish breakfast. The specialty of the egg dishes is scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Lunch is a whiskey tasting and snacks from each distillery. Dinner includes Angus beef, a specialty of Scotland, and a wide variety of locally caught seafood, but the giant Dungeness crab and lobster are particularly delicious.
You will stay at the four-star Macleay Hotel & Golf Links (you can also play a round on the adjoining golf course), but if you prefer, you can also stay in a guesthouse-style, homey hotel in each port town. The guesthouse-style hotels always have a bar where locals gather, so you can drink with them and have fun until the late hours of the night.
Islay is a wonderful resort where the entire island is a public house.
